Everyone who went last year agreed that Preston’s third Skim boarding Festival was excellent fun – Both for competitors and spectators! And, according to organisers The Boathouse, Circle One & Preston Eye this year is going to be even better!
The Preston Skimboard Festival '10 will be held on the 14th and 15th of August at Preston Sands (by the boathouse), and everyone is getting really excited already.
By popular demand there will be four competitions sections:
Under 8’s
Under 11’s
Under 16’s
16 and over
You can download your entry forms from here (pdf) or collect one from the boathouse.
The competition ‘skims off’ at 11am on Saturday morning. All competitors need to have checked in at the competitors tent on the beach, below the Boathouse by 10am. Results of the heats will be announced on The Boathouse Terrace after the events with music from Richard Cottell. The finals will then be run on Sunday morning, again ‘skimming off’ at 11am. After no-doubt, tense and nail-biting finals, the prize-giving will take place on The Boathouse Terrace at 2pm, where-upon Paddy's Whiskers will be on hand to entertain everyone with Irish Folk Fiddle music. We have some great prizes for the winners in each section and all competitors go home with something!
During Saturday and Sunday there will also be a beachside BBQ and Bar and there will be hair-braiding, face-painting and a Beach Volleyball court to play on. This has been funded by the Preston Community Partnership and the organisers would like to say a “big thanks” to Bob Brewis for all his help!
